If you do not have those fundamentals in place, your business may still function, but it will be a struggle for you (the owner) and for your employees. Setting up your operations department the right way and making sure you use the most effective systems and processes makes the business of running a business much easier. As a side effect, it also makes your employees happier because they know what they are expected to do, when the deliverables are due and how their performance will be graded. When you have the right systems and processes, the right people in the right positions and everyone is working toward the same goals, the workplace becomes fun, creative and rewarding for everyone.
